Deborah Rice

Originally a high school teacher, Deborah has over
25 years experience living and working in rural communities in the Pilbara, Mid
West, Wheatbelt and Great Southern regions.
She has extensive experience working with educational and regional
development agencies in both managerial and supporting roles. The theory from recent tertiary studies,
combined with practical experience, shapes Deborah’s ‘building from within’
approach to working with communities, industry and government groups.
Deborah developed practical and transferable
community development skills through seven years of supporting Telecentres in
the Peel, South West and Great Southern regions. Deborah co-authored a series of ten booklets,
“Ten Steps for Establishing a Sustainable Multipurpose Community Telecentre”
commissioned by UNESCO aimed at assisting developing countries establish a
multi-purpose community technology centre.

Community consultation, training, facilitation, management
support, strategic planning, team building, event coordination and research are
some of the services Deborah provides for a number of organisations and
industry bodies. Through her contracts and volunteer activities, she encourages
partnerships, collaboration and cooperation to achieve positive outcomes.
Special Interests
Deborah is committed to community leadership and
personal development training to assist individuals and groups maximise their
potential. This passion led to her
contributing her enthusiasm and knowledge to develop a partnership approach for
the Southern Region Community Leadership Plan, Program and Forum.
