Jo lived and worked in a
small rural community for over 25 years. During that time Joanne was heavily
involved with community projects and development. An elected member of Local
Government for over 10 years, Jo has an intimate knowledge of working with
communities from many perspectives. A graduate of the WA State Government’s
Future Leaders Program in 1999, Jo has been involved in the design and delivery
of Leadership programs since 2000. Jo’s passion for Local Government has seen
her directly employed for the last 4 years in roles that influence and
facilitate risk management & sustainability within the industry.

Government in communities.

History
December 2008 – current – Regional Cooperation Manager, WALGA
This role is to specifically, participate in and
contribute to the implementation of the Association’s 10 Year Industry Plan and
the achievement of enhanced systemic sustainability for Local Government
August 2005 – November 2008 – Risk Management Consultant, LGIS
Relationship building, strategic planning,
facilitation, development of training modules, policies and procedures for the
implementation of Enterprise Risk management are key requirements of this role.
This role includes the training of Local Government staff and associated
community groups in AS/NZS 4360 Risk Management
November 2003 – present – ARID Group.
May
– October 2003 – Leadership Development Consultant to the WA Community
Leadership Program. Duties included the provision of support for leadership
development programs, assisting communities with selection of participants for
the WA Community Leadership Program, assisting with the development of
leadership training to meet community needs, assisting with the delivery of
leadership training modules, assisting with the planning and organisation of
the leadership training modules.
May
– September 2002 – Consultant to The West Australian Community Leadership
Initiative. Duties include, assisting with the production of The West
Australian Community Leadership Plan, research, ministerials, script writing
for a promotional video and general support to the project.
February
– April 2002 - Support consultancy to The WA Community Leadership Workshop
Project with The Department of Local Government And Regional Development.
Duties included liaising with delegates, assisting with the development of the
workshop program, and general assistance to the Project Coordinator.
February 2002 – Temporary
Research Officer for Mike Board JP MLA Member of Murdoch.
February - June 2001 –
Contract with Progress Rural as a Team Coach of the Community Leadership
Taskforce. Joanne’s duties included debriefing and facilitation of training to
20 participants, from the Northern Agricultural Region.
2000 - Contracted to
Progress Rural. Joanne’s role was to work through evaluations with previous
participants in the Foundations for Leadership Courses, and report back to
Progress Rural with my findings, in a written format.
